Jodhpur 2 Day Itinerary at a Glance
1. Mehrangarh Fort → Jaswant Thada → Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park → Old City evening
2. Umaid Bhawan Palace → Blue City → Toorji Ka Jhalra → Clock Tower & Sardar Market
Day 1: Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada & Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park
8:00–8:30 AM — Breakfast
Start your first day with breakfast near your hotel. An early start is useful because Mehrangarh Fort deserves several hours and much of the sightseeing around the fort is outdoors.
Try to reach the Mehrangarh area around opening time.
9:00–11:30 AM — Mehrangarh Fort

Mehrangarh Fort is the highlight of any 2 days in Jodhpur itinerary and should be your first major stop.
The hilltop fort contains impressive gates, courtyards, palace interiors and the Mehrangarh Museum, where you can see royal collections and artefacts. The fort also offers some of the best views over Jodhpur’s blue-painted Old City.
Allow around 2–2.5 hours to explore without rushing.
Current visitor information: The Mehrangarh Museum Trust currently lists the museum as open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily. Current admission is ₹200 for domestic visitors and ₹800 for international visitors. Check the official website before visiting as fees can change.
11:30 AM–12:15 PM — Jaswant Thada

After Mehrangarh Fort, continue to Jaswant Thada, a beautiful white-marble memorial dedicated to Maharaja Jaswant Singh II.
The peaceful setting makes it a nice contrast to the much larger fort. Take some time to see the marble architecture, portraits and gardens, as well as the views towards Mehrangarh.
Allow around 45 minutes.
Current visitor information: Jaswant Thada is currently listed as open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily. Admission is ₹50 for domestic visitors and ₹100 for international visitors.
12:15–1:15 PM — Lunch
Head towards the Old City for lunch.
Keep this stop relaxed rather than trying to fit another attraction into the middle of the day. You will have several more sightseeing stops later.
1:30–3:00 PM — Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park

Spend the afternoon at Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park, located close to Mehrangarh Fort.
The park was created to restore the natural rocky landscape around the fort and contains native desert vegetation and walking trails. It also provides a different perspective of Jodhpur after a morning spent exploring historic buildings.
Allow around 1–1.5 hours.
Current visitor information:
- October–March: 8:00 AM–5:30 PM
- April–September: 7:00 AM–6:30 PM
- Entry: ₹100
- Open daily
If the weather is particularly hot, you can skip the park and use this time to rest at your hotel.
4:00 PM Onwards — Relax and Explore the Old City
Return to your hotel for a short break before heading back towards the Old City in the evening.
You can enjoy dinner at a rooftop restaurant with views towards Mehrangarh Fort or simply explore the area around the Clock Tower.
There is no need to add another major monument on the first evening. Keeping some free time makes this Jodhpur itinerary much more comfortable.
Day 2: Umaid Bhawan Palace, Blue City & Old City
Day two focuses on Jodhpur’s royal palace and historic Old City.
9:00–10:30 AM — Umaid Bhawan Palace

Start your second day at Umaid Bhawan Palace.
Commissioned by Maharaja Umaid Singh, the palace was constructed between 1928 and 1943 and combines Indian architectural elements with European and Art Deco influences.
A section of the palace is open as a museum displaying royal memorabilia, photographs and other collections.
Allow around 1–1.5 hours for the visit.
Visitor information: Current published sources give different opening hours for the museum, so check the latest visitor information before visiting rather than relying on an old timetable.
10:30 AM–12:30 PM — Explore the Blue City
Next, head towards Jodhpur’s historic Old City and spend some time exploring its famous blue-painted neighbourhoods.
Walk through a few of the traditional lanes, photograph the blue houses and enjoy the atmosphere of the old neighbourhoods beneath Mehrangarh Fort.
You do not need to cover every lane. Keep this part of the itinerary flexible.
Planning tip: For a detailed route, use a separate Jodhpur Blue City walking guide rather than trying to turn this itinerary into a full walking tour.
12:30–1:30 PM — Lunch in the Old City
Stop for lunch around the Old City or Clock Tower area.
This is a good opportunity to try some local favourites such as mirchi bada, pyaaz kachori or makhaniya lassi.
1:30–2:15 PM — Toorji Ka Jhalra

Continue to Toorji Ka Jhalra, one of Jodhpur’s most recognisable historic stepwells.
The beautifully symmetrical sandstone steps make it an excellent photography stop and it is conveniently located near other Old City attractions.
Allow around 30–45 minutes.
Current visitor information: Incredible India currently lists Toorji Ka Jhalra as open 24 hours.
2:15–4:30 PM — Clock Tower & Sardar Market
Finish your main sightseeing around Ghanta Ghar, also known as the Clock Tower, and the surrounding Sardar Market.
This lively part of the Old City is known for spices, textiles, jewellery, handicrafts and other local products.
Take your time browsing the market rather than treating it like another timed attraction. You can also stop for tea, lassi or a local snack.
Why visit: It gives you a more everyday side of Jodhpur after spending much of the trip exploring royal architecture.
4:30 PM Onwards — Sunset & Dinner
For your final evening, choose a rooftop restaurant with a view of Mehrangarh Fort or spend some additional time exploring the Old City.
If you enjoy photography, late afternoon is also a good time to look for a viewpoint over the Blue City.
Optional Addition: Mandore Gardens
If you are more interested in history and gardens than spending extra time in the Old City, you can replace part of Day 2 with Mandore Gardens.
Mandore was the former capital of Marwar and contains royal cenotaphs, temples and other historic structures.
A practical alternative is:
Umaid Bhawan Palace → Lunch → Mandore Gardens → Clock Tower & Sardar Market
Avoid adding Mandore on top of the complete itinerary unless you are comfortable with a faster pace.

What to Skip on a 2-Day Jodhpur Trip
Two days are enough for the city’s main highlights, but trying to visit every attraction will make the itinerary unnecessarily rushed.
For a two-day trip, I would leave these for another visit or a dedicated excursion:
- Osian
- Bishnoi Village
- Jodhpur to Jaisalmer
- Multiple lakes
- Every museum and temple
If you want to visit Osian or a Bishnoi village, plan them as separate experiences rather than squeezing them into this two-day city itinerary.
Practical Tips for 2 Days in Jodhpur
Start early
Begin your sightseeing early, particularly when visiting during warmer months. Mehrangarh Fort is the most important attraction and deserves enough time.
Stay near the Old City
Staying around the Clock Tower or Old City can make the second day easier and gives you convenient access to restaurants and evening views.
Group nearby attractions
The itinerary groups Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada and Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park together. The second day concentrates on Umaid Bhawan and the Old City.
This reduces unnecessary travel across the city.
Don’t overpack your schedule
Jodhpur is a city where wandering, taking photographs and stopping for food are part of the experience. Leave some flexibility instead of planning every minute.
Check timings before visiting
Opening hours and ticket prices can change. Always check the attraction’s latest official visitor information before travelling.
Is 2 Days Enough for Jodhpur?
Yes. Two full days are enough to see the major Jodhpur attractions without making the trip excessively rushed.
The essential combination is:
Mehrangarh Fort → Jaswant Thada → Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park → Umaid Bhawan Palace → Blue City → Toorji Ka Jhalra → Clock Tower & Sardar Market
This gives you a good mix of forts, royal architecture, blue-painted neighbourhoods, markets and desert landscapes.
If you have a third day, you can add places such as Mandore Gardens, Balsamand Lake, Kaylana Lake or a dedicated excursion outside the city.
